Her driving record continues to worsen, but with such a high number of run-ins, it’s beginning to look like the fault may not totally fall on Britney Spears.

Just last night, the Pieces Of Me singer rolled into the Four Seasons Hotel, managing to catch another paparazzo’s foot underneath the tire of her car.

According to press on the scene, “The drivin’ popwreck was surrounded by photogs as she made her way into the parking lot. The paps refused to move, despite several warnings and documented footage of how Britney rolls. Moments later, Brit shockingly rolled her new wheels over a guy’s foot.”

While “shockingly” may not be the correct choice of wording, the latest incident surely cannot help at the emergency custody hearing scheduled for Friday (November 15) by Kevin Federline’s legal team.

Kim Kardashian’s Show Squeezes Out Second Season

Kim Kardashian was in good spirits as she strolled about Ralph’s Supermarket last night (November 14), as she recently learned that her new show was picked up for a second season.

The “Keeping Up With the Kardashian’s” star’s series has “ranked tops among all ad-supported cable nets in its Sunday 10:30 p.m. time-slot among women 18-34 since the show debuted on October 14th.”

According to press reports, “The latest episode measured by Nielsen Media Research live-plus-same-day ratings, which centered on Kardashian’s cover shoot for the December issue of Playboy, averaged 1.13 million total viewers November 4th.”

Kim’s reality series is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Bunim-Murray Productions. The first season draws to a close on December 2nd, with plans for the second run to start in Spring of 2008.

Lindsay Lohan: Shopping Addict

Though she had a pretty rough go of it so far this year, Lindsay Lohan has managed to stay clean and sober since her most recent stay at the Cirque Lodge in Utah. But it looks like she may have found a new addiction that won’t land her in the Big House, but rather the poor house.

Reportedly, the “Mean Girls” actress has taken up spending massive amounts of money as a means of coping with her addictive personality. And the endless trail of paparazzi photos of the singer/actress trying on everything from clothes to sunglasses to hats isn’t helping her image.

To further the claim, LiLo is constantly filmed and photographed eating at some of Los Angeles’ most exclusive, and therefore expensive, restaurants multiple times a day. It looks like Lindsay needs a little help with her “retail therapy.”

Clinical psychologist Andrew Tatarsky says this kind of behavior is common among people with addictive personalities. “In terms of substance abuse, an overwhelming number of people come out of rehab and resume their addictive behaviors. And many who do stay sober … still find themselves switching to other addictive activities, such as shopping, working or eating.”

He explains, “If shopping can help people manage difficult situations and times, then we might say it’s actually therapeutic. But that’s very different from getting into a compulsive relationship with shopping and letting it become a quick-fix high that gives you a temporary rush.”

Sexiest Man Alive: Matt Damon

If there was any doubt that the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise was chock full of hunky men, it’s all been put to rest. Matt Damon has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest man alive. And he’s thrilled to accept the title.

“You’ve given an aging suburban dad the ego-boost of a lifetime. My 9-year-old stepdaughter now thinks I’m cool – well, cooler,” Matt wrote in a letter to the magazine.

Two other “Ocean’s” stars nabbed the title before Damon - George Clooney and Brad Pitt. But Matt’s claiming it’s his machismo that helped him grab the 2007 title.

“They are taller than me, but I’m more macho. I pack more testosterone into my smaller frame,” he joked to press.

And Matt’s brother-from-another-mother Ben Affleck even had some fun-poking words for the Bourne Ultimatum star. “For a guy like Matt, 4’11”, 295 lbs., it’s a heck of an achievement… Congratulations, Matt! You did it!”

Hayden Panettiere Hosts Need For Speed Party

While her busy filming schedule has been wiped out by the screen writers’ strike, Hayden Panettiere has been keeping herself busy with a hefty slate of public appearances.

Last night, the Heroes actress hosted a launch party for the new Need For Speed video game at Les Deux in Hollywood.

According to reports from the festivities, “Attendees enjoyed tray-passed appetizers and an open bar, as well as live DJ sets by Junkie XL and Tuner cars on display.”

As far as her NBC show Heroes is concerned, Volume II has three episodes remaining, with the final one airing on December 3rd. From there, the beginning of Volume III has an unknown start date due to the writers’ strike.

Heroes Stars Hang With a Lamborghini Hayden Panettiere

Doing her best “Inspector Gadget” impersonation, Hayden Panettiere hammed it up next to an amazing Yellow Lamborghini sports car.

Panettiere and her Heroes crew, including Kristen Bell and Milo Ventimiglia, stopped by a photo shoot for the Italian carmaker at the Skirball Center in Los Angeles.

And when you’re as rich and famous as these ladies, you don’t have to just look… they hopped in one of the high-priced hot rods and went for a spin.

Of course, they were chauffeured by one of Lamborghini’s people, so as not to fall into the “Lindsay Lohan/Britney Spears” category of celebs in collisions.

After their test drive, the Heroes peeps headed off to a party.

Britney Spears Plans To Go Under The Knife

She’s popped out two kids, and slacked off on her personal fitness regime, but don’t count Britney Spears out yet. There are reports that she’s in the market to have a little work done.

According to the press, the “Toxic” singer is about to undergo a series of surgical procedures in order to restore her body to it’s state before she had kids.

A source close to Spears told press, “Britney rips pages out of magazines with pictures of the perfect body parts she wants. When she sees so many pictures of her in magazines it is impossible for her not to scrutinize every detail of her body.”

Another insider reports, “She is so insecure over how much her body has changed since becoming a mother. She has said she will do whatever it takes to get back to her best even if that means getting a helping hand through surgery.”

Psychologist Linda Blair is concerned that Brit needs something other than plastic surgery to make her feel more confident. “People often think surgery will solve all their problems but it really won’t. Most clinics will not go ahead with a procedure if things are not right with the patient mentally. Patients can experience terrible disappointment if they have surgery and then find nothing has improved in their life.”

Rumor has it that the “Gimme More” singer is set to have a tummy tuck, liposuction, breast enhancement, and rhinoplasty. Additionally, she’ll also have a chemical peel on her facial skin.

Amy Winehouse’s parents lost contact with Amy for a few hours. Instead of going to her house themselves, they thought it would be faster and more efficient to use the state’s emergency ambulance service.

The ambulance arrived at Amy’s doorstep at 7.30 pm, Tuesday night. The parents were not satisfied that Amy was not home. They insisted that the police show up to barge their way in to check on her. So, the ambulance and police were waiting for Army when she finally returned home after 9 pm.

Amy’s camp were worried that she was upset over visiting her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil in jail. Blake’s friends said that he missed Amy, home and his familiar stuff.

Zac Efron’s Beverly Hills Business Meeting

Continuing to increase in frequency, Zac Efron was spotted out in Beverly Hills on Wednesday to attend another business meeting.

In recent weeks, the High School Musical hunk has been involved in negotiations to return for the third installment of the hit Disney franchise.

As reported this past weekend by Gossip Girls, Efron met with filmmaker Kenny Ortega, who was carrying papers under his arm which appeared to be a script for the highly anticipated HSM3.

However, Zac is still yet to finalize a contract for the movie, which begins filming this January. Most belive that the 20-year-old is holding out for more money.

Disney has previously released the following statement in regards to the situation: “We are still in negotiations with all of the High School Musical stars.”

But from all of the recent activity, it seems like an announcement could be coming any time now.

Beyonce and Jay-Z in the Big Apple

It’s been a big week for hip-hop’s first couple. Last night, Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z were spotted leaving dinner at La Esquina in New York City.

Soon thereafter, the “Bootylicious” singer headed to the airport to fly back to Los Angeles for an appearance on the American Music Awards. Meanwhile, Jay-Z stayed in NYC to revel in the glory of his new album’s release.

And the timing couldn’t be better. Beyonce recently ended her world tour, just in time for Jay to be embarking on a tour of his own. Looks like she’ll be freed up to accompany him on his travels.

The “99 Problems” rapper celebrated Tuesday night at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, NYC. He performed to a sold-out crowd that included LeBron James and Chamillionaire.

His new album “American Gangster” garnered him his 10th #1 debut, tying him with Elvis Presley for most #1 albums of an American artist (the Beatles hold the world record).

New York - For those living with spinal cord injuries in the U.S., the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation provides a form of magic in the form of funding for research and quality of life improvements. So the theme of their annual fundraising gala, "A Magical Evening," held on Nov. 12 in New York, was especially fitting.

Celebrity friends and supporters of the Reeve's cause, including Diane Sawyer, Robin and Marsha Williams, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Anne Hathaway, came out in full force to the Marriot Marquis to honor the couple's advocacy work. Christopher passed away in 2004, and Dana passed away from lung cancer at the age of 44 in 2006.

Their children, Matthew, Alexandra and Will, were on hand at the gala to honor Meryl Streep, the recipient of the Dana Reeve Hope Award; Lee and Bob Woodruff, the recipients of the Christopher Reeve Spirit of Courage Award and Henry G. Stifel, one of the founding members of the foundation and recipient of the Visionary Leadership Award.

"Meryl's been a loyal and great friend to the foundation and were happy to pay tribute to her this evening," said Alexandra Reeve.

"I knew him for a long time, many, many years," said Meryl Streep of Reeve. "I'm very, very honored to be here, and I'm a little humbled, because I feel like I'm standing in light that [Christopher and Dana Reeve] cast. They just really were like a lighthouse for this issue, and so charismatic and so effective in their advocacy."

Lee and Bob Woodruff, whose own story has come to parallel in many ways the Reeve's, when television journalist Bob Woodruff became the first news anchor in Iraq to be wounded, nearly killed by a roadside bomb. He sustained a serious head injury and subsequently, he and his wife Lee established the Bob Woodruff Family Fund for Traumatic Brain Injury.

"It just so happened after I woke up, after 36 days in my coma, I looked up at the TV and saw that Dana had passed away, and I will never forget that," said Bob Woodruff. That was one of the first things that I saw. That's how close this family is to so many people in this country."

Another friend of the Reeve's, Academy Award-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who met the couple after college at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, said it was a "no-brainer" to come out that evening for the foundation.

"What they built is a pretty extraordinary thing, and I just want to keep supporting it as long as I can," said Hoffman. "Hopefully from year to year it will keep building upon what they left, so that's why I'm here."

Hoffman said that in choosing his own roles, he's always been surprised about the films that have had a lasting impact.

"I never know what films will have an impact either socially or politically," he said. "It's a tough one, because sometimes things can be too on the nose. You hope you're involved with things that will just make an impact, that will affect people somehow. Sometimes that's socially or politically, and sometimes that's just soulfully."

Christopher Reeve, a longtime activist even before his paralyzing accident in 1995 when he was thrown from a horse in an equestrian competition, used his own celebrity for good causes ranging from the Make-a-Wish Foundation, to Amnesty International, to the Natural Resources Defense Council.

After his accident and extensive, painful rehabilitation, he traveled constantly throughout the country to speak on behalf of other people with disabilities and also actively lobbied in Washington D.C. In September 2007, the House Energy and Commerce Committee passed the Christopher and Dana Reeve Paralysis Act (H.R. 1727) to be considered by the full House, a bill intended to improve the quality of life for those with spinal cord injuries.

Last week during the NYC Marathon, Team Reeve, made up of 50 runners, raised $400,000 for the foundation.

Everyone Was There at the "I'm Not There" Premiere

New York - The stars glittered brilliantly on a chilly Tuesday night in New York City to see director Todd Haynes' homage to Bob Dylan's life. Called "I'm Not There," it is a movie with an interesting conceit. In it, six actors including one female, Cate Blanchett portray the legendary singer-songwriter at various points in his iconic career. Blanchett was off in Sydney, and fellow Dylans Christian Bale and Ben Whishaw didn't make it either, but the other three who take on the role, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Marcus Carl Franklin, joined Haynes and the film's
Heath Ledger talked about the film to the press earlier in the week, and explained that a knowledge of Dylan's life and music isn't a necessity to enjoying the flick.

"I don't think you need to be a Dylan genius in order to appreciate it as a story, a film, or the experience of it," Ledger said. "It is a film, it is a movie, and it's not a quiz. There is no Q&A afterwards, as an audience member. Quite frankly I think the less you know, the better off you are going to be. You are not going to be straining yourself, trying to digest every single line of dialogue. You just kind of strap yourself in and enjoy the ride, that kind of thing."

That's just what Julianne Moore, Bruce Greenwood, and Yolanda Moss did; they co-star in the movie and joined a throng of Haynes fans at the premiere. There was Lauren Bacall, Adrian Grenier, Glenn Close, Justin Bateman, Eva Amurri, Bebe Neuwirth, Patricia Clarkson, Richard Belzer and Bart Freundlich.

Dylan's music has had a profound impact over the years, even on 28-year-old Heath Ledger, who wasn't born when Dylan rose to superstardom in the Sixties, but who insisted that age has nothing to do with appreciating the music or "I'm Not There" either.

"I was definitely a fan of Dylan. I think Dylan was someone who I had scheduled somewhat, in the future, down the line, to become obsessed by. I do get obsessed with people, musicians, and artists," Ledger admitted. "I think that Todd prematurely invited me into this obsession, on this film."

The film-festival favorite opens in limited release on November 21.

Lane Garrison 40 Months in Prison

Lane Garrison was sentenced to three years and four months in prison Wednesday for a drunken driving crash that killed a 17-year-old Beverly Hills High student last December.

“The public has the right to know that conduct such as this, causing devastation such as this” will have consequences, said Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox.

“Unfortunately, in this case, you have to be the messenger,” he told the former “Prison Break” actor.

Garrison, 27 could have received nearly seven years in prison. He had no reaction to the sentencing and was taken away in handcuffs. Before the sentencing, he apologized to the family of Vahagn Setian.

“I’m sick of my own behavior that night,” he said. “This remorse is genuine. I feel it every day.”
About 30 teenagers, many of them Beverly Hills High students, packed the courtroom, some wearing T-shirts that had Setian’s photograph and the motto: “Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today.”

“There are no winners in this situation, obviously,” Setian family spokesman James Lee said outside court. After the hearing, defense attorney Harland Braun said his client “was hopeful (of leniency) but someone’s dead and he’s alive." Braun said Garrison told him: “I’m the lucky one.” Setian was a passenger in the 2001 Land Rover that Garrison rammed into a tree on Dec. 2. Two 15-year-old girls who also were in the vehicle survived. Garrison met the teens at a grocery store and accompanied them to a party. At the time of the crash, Garrison had a blood-alcohol level of 0.20 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving, and was under the influence of cocaine, according to police.

Garrison pleaded guilty in May to one count of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, one count of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15 percent or higher and a misdemeanor of providing alcohol to a minor. Classmates and relatives of Setian had pressed for Garrison to get the maximum sentence. On Tuesday, they tried to deliver a petition carrying more than 3,000 signatures making the request, but were told to submit it at the hearing through a prosecutor. The judge refused to accept the petition Wednesday, calling it inappropriate. Fox imposed both prison time and four years’ parole and ordered Garrison to pay around $300,000 in restitution to the victims and their families. Source msnbc

Kate Winslet attended the 16th Annual Bafta/LA Cunard Britannia Awards (now, that was a mouthful) a couple of days ago in Hollywood wearing a controversial dress.

This obviously wasn't a 'safe' choice. When presented with photographs like this I sometimes wonder what the intention behind the outfit was. Do celebrities wear off-the-wall outfits purely to cause controversy and ultimately column inches or are they simply exploring their own style and pushing the boundaries?

I'm not sure the metallic finish and texture of the gown sits well with the classic (almost frumpy) shape. I love the super-wide black patent belt (a must-have for your wardrobe) but not with this dress. The belt is too 'now' to be teamed with a shape of dress that is 'not now'. It's a bit like eating ketchup with ice cream...they just don't go well together.

Hilary Duff Keeps Her Clothes ON For FHM

Yes the shoot is sexy but it is definitely not what I'd expect from a magazine which usually displays topless shots. I wonder if FHM readers felt a little cheated to open the magazine and find Hilary very much fully clothed? The shots are tasteful, demure and wouldn't look out of place in ladies fashion mags such as Glamour or Instyle. The mini cropped leather biker jacket is right on trend and is a look that appears in the Kate Moss for Topshop collection. Good for you Hilary for not selling out and getting your kit off for money. What a great role model for young girls - this is one celebrity you won't see falling over drunk or photographed minus underwear.

Jacobs Receives Designer of the Year Award

New York - The man whose own latest accessory is dyed blue hair, Marc Jacobs, took home the "Designer of the Year" award at the 11th Annual ACE Awards in New York on Nov. 5, one of many people honored by the Accessories Council this year for their achievements in the world of accessories.

Jacobs, whose shoes and handbags for both his signature collection and his younger Marc by Marc Jacobs brand are highly sought after items, also designs accessories for one of the most recognizable luxury brands in the world, Louis Vuitton, which he reinvents season after season. His latest collection, shown on the runways in Paris in October, featured a collaboration with artist Richard Prince.

Actress Mandy Moore was honored as "Fashion Innovator," while supermodel and "Project Runway" producer Heidi Klum, who designed a jewelry line of her own that she will wear in upcoming episodes, received the "Fashion Influencer" award. Moore opted to wear a form-fitting black satin shirt dress, while Klum wore a black and gold brocade gown. Jessica Simpson, a presenter, wore a black and gold sheath.

Black dresses - perhaps better for highlighting one's accessories - turned out to be the prevailing statement of the evening, as fellow honoree Tory Burch, whose new line garnered the "Accessory Brand Launch" award, wore an elegant black halter gown. Quadruple whammy for Kate Moss in best-dressed list

LONDON(Reuters Life!) - Supermodel Kate Moss held on to a place in the top 10 of the latest British best-dressed list but lagged behind a 60-something actress, a 42-year-old novelist and the girlfriends of two former lovers.

Russian model Natalia Vodianova captured first place in the list of actresses, celebrities and models chosen by Harper's Bazaar for their 25 Best-Dressed on the red carpet 2007, while Moss came 10th.

Ahead of the 33-year-old Moss, actress and 62-year-old star of film "The Queen" Helen Mirren came in fourth place and Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, 42, seventh. Moss was also beaten by girlfriends of former lovers.

Belgian model Anouck Lepere, who is dating magazine editor Jefferson Hack -- with whom Moss has a daughter -- and Romanian-born model Irina Lazareanu -- who has dated British singer Pete Doherty -- both came ahead of Moss in eighth and ninth place respectively.

It was not all age before beauty, however.

Younger celebrities like Peaches Geldof (daughter of singer and philanthropist Bob Geldof) and actress Keira Knightley also found their way into the list of 25 at 17th and 21st places.

But the one time wannabe-designer’s inimitable style had been picked up long before she was embraced by the who’s who of Hollywood. Before her acting career took off, Sevigny was featured in a 7 page feature in New Yorker magazine on Hip Manhattan Street culture, which led to a covetable modelling career including a Miu Miu campaign, and her being featured in a string of music videos including one for the Lemonheads. Her sense of style, it seems, has always come as second nature, and was by no means manufactured by a Hollywood career.

In fact, the actress is known to pay no mind to trends, stylists, or the fashion world in general. Her style is completely her own. As Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquiere put it: “Whether she wears designer clothes or vintage clothes, they always look like Chloe Sevigny clothes”.

Indeed, it is this blend of thrift shop bargains and designer brand pieces that seem to epitomise Sevigny’s distinctive look – the industry dubbed “vintage-chic”; a look that has whipped the fashion conscious into a frenzy of late, as they struggle to mimic the actresses innate style. But Sevigny is far from fond of her iconic status: “For some reason the public has embraced me as a fashion icon, and I feel like it has diminished me as an actress, or I don’t get as much recognition as an actress”, complained the star, “and that upsets me”.

But it is just this apparent indifference and effortlessness to her style of dress that has the fashion industry in awe, and that makes it so difficult to achieve for fashion followers. Sevigny, it appears, will always be at least two, or three, or even four steps ahead of the fashion pack: “Every time I see a photo of myself from the past month I think, ‘what was I thinking?’” confessed the actress in a recent interview. Her crazes are fleeting and her look changes as quickly as most of us change our underwear, making her maddeningly, yet endearingly inimitable.

Sevigny is a red carpet favourite, appearing at all the events to be seen at in beautiful designer dresses, but always with her own signature twist. At the recent Cartier Santos Night party, she coupled a flowy, white Balenciaga knee length dress with brown ankle boots. Her yellow Louis Vuitton (incidentally one of her favourite designers) dress she wore for the M A C Viva Glam benefit, for whom she is a spokeswoman, featured a bikini-esque revealing top, which dropped into a figure hugging pencil skirt style from the waist. But Sevigny insists that the glossy, designer look we see on the red carpet is not at all her own. Instead, the actress insists her wardrobe is stocked almost entirely from thrift and vintage stores, with the occasional conventional separate thrown in for good measure.

Unlike most Hollywood starlets, you won’t find Sevigny meandering down Rodeo Drive on her shopping sprees. You are more likely to spot the independent actress in quirky stores such as C Madeline’s Showroom; a vintage store in Miami that stocks almost 100 years worth of the finest vintage clothing from all the greats, such as Gucci, Bill Blass, Halston and even designers dating back to Victorian times!

Throughout her impressive young career, Sevigny has also lent her expertise to the hugely successful clothing label “Imitation of Christ” (which counts Scarlett Johansson as one of it’s biggest fans), which has received widespread acclaim from the industry, and has appropriately been referred to as “the fashion industry’s answer to independent film”. Another feather in the cap of the woman who has repeatedly been placed in the much coveted ‘best dressed’ lists of all the big industry bibles, Vogue and Bazaar to name but two; and we’re talking top three here, at least. Pretty impressive from the girl who admits she always wore short shorts to divert attention away from her face.

It’s this fascinating mix of modesty and incredibly self-assured strength and confidence in what she does, and more importantly, what she wears, that makes Chloe Sevigny one of today’s most impressive fashion icons. Although her look is one that may never translate directly to the high street (I don’t see myself wearing a wedding dress over a leopard print leotard any time soon), let it at least inspire us to inject that little bit of different into our Autumn ’05 wardrobes!

There's a school of thought that would say that TV series Ally McBeal did for office wear what John Galliano once did for a fast-dating Dior - infused it with some spunk, some flair, and some seriously sexy models to kick a once-conceived 'boring' clothing sector into the cutting edge fashion world. And nobody wore corporate-chic better than Lucy Liu's ferociously foxy Ling Wu; who sported her trouser suits, sharp shirts and spiked stilettos with some serious edge, and a whole heap of attitude.

Lucy Liu had arrived, and when the series lent her an almost instantaneous style queen status, the actress didn't disappoint. With her quirky, freckled Asian looks, amazing hair and perfectly petite figure, it's hardly surprising that Liu can make almost anything look good. She is rarely if ever seen looking anything but sleek and glamorous, developing a trademark look of grooming and sophisticated elegance. She appears to have that rare, invaluable ability to combine old-school movie star glamour with cutting edge trends, and all the top designers can't get enough clothes on that back.

One of her more scene stealing numbers was the red and black one shoulder Versace gown she wore to the 72nd academy awards, which launched the actress on almost every best-dressed-at-the-Oscars list to be seen on. The beautiful fish tailed gown was beaded in a graphic swirl design, and was set off to perfection by red snakeskin sandals, and of course Liu's own sleek, jet-black locks.
But this style jackpot was by no means a one-off for the actress who first gained public attention (from the male public anyway) playing a dangerously sexy dominatrix in the movie "Payback". It's difficult to pinpoint the best-dressed moments of a woman who never seems to be anything but. Loose Lips: Angelina Jolie Talks 'Beowulf,' 'A Mighty Heart' and Life at Home

When you’re in the presence of Angelina Jolie, it’s all about those famously luscious lips.

But while they may have launched a zillion rhapsodic adjectives on newsstands and the blogosphere when she first arrived so bee-stung on the scene, today it’s the words coming forth from that famous mouth that catch everyone’s attention. With an Oscar on the mantle, an adorable multicultural clan at home, an equally famous, gorgeous and talented paramour on her arm and hundreds of hours of humanitarian efforts to her credit, Jolie stands firmly at the epicenter of the popular culture.

So it’s no wonder Hollywood.com spent the better part of a weekend in L.A. listening to the superstar hold court on a wide range of subjects, from being three months pregnant in her unexpectedly exposed scenes in Robert Zemeckis’s computer-animated fantasy Beowulf to the enduring emotional effects of playing journalist Mariane Pearl in the tragic true-life tale A Mighty Heart (a performance which, thanks to a new audience on DVD, is making her Oscar buzz grow louder by the second) to bringing her roles home to Brad Pitt and the kids.

Question: How did you end up playing this shape-changing seductress from history’s oldest known story?
Angelina Jolie: I was excited I got a call that I was going to be working with Bob Zemeckis, and I was pretty much saying yes to anything. Then I was told I was going to be a lizard. [Laughs] Then I was brought into a room with Bob and a bunch of pictures and examples, and he showed me this picture of a woman half-painted gold, and then a lizard. And, I’ve got kids and I thought “That's great. That's so bizarre. I'm going to be this crazy reptilian person and creature.” I was very excited. And then I met with Crispin [Glover, who plays Grendel] and we had a great time, and just amazing scenes. And then I saw the poster--and saw a few other things--and I realized I'm not just a lizard. [Laughs] But I'm very excited about it. It was just great. She's one of those fun characters. She's evil and she's temptation and she's very fun to play.

Q: How did working on this project, acting with so little to work from in your immediate environment, open things up for you creatively?
AJ: I think that the nice thing about it was that we all do films these days, and so much of it has become a business, and so much of it is these projects where people want to rush through things, or you feel like you make a movie and you're not really sure. You’ve kind of lost touch with the artistic process and the fun of it. And Bob is a real artist, and he loves it so much. He's so enthusiastic, and so original, and you really feel that you remember you're a creative person, and you have fun with everybody else. I needed that, as an artist, so it was really great. I'm really grateful for the experience.

Q: And despite being featured so prominently in the film, it wasn’t exactly a demanding shooting schedule.
AJ: This was a two-and-a-half day shoot for me, and I was three months pregnant! We did the mapping of my body before. But no, it was a pleasure. But yes, the fact that it was short, it was that much easier to not have to work too much.

Q: What did it feel like to see so much of yourself appearing on screen, particularly the nudity?
AJ: I got a little shy [Laughs]. I didn't expect ourselves to come out as much. I didn’t expect it to feel as real. Because, especially with the type of character I play, it was kind of funny at first. There were certain moments where I felt actually shy, and called home [laughs], just to explain that the fun movie that I had done, that was this digital animation, was in fact a little different [laughs] than they were expecting. I was really surprised that I felt that exposed.

Q: Did you like how your body ended up looking?
AJ: I love my tail. [Laughs]

Q: What was the oddest thing you had to do when you were covered with sensors trying to act out the scene without sets, props, costumes or anything?
AJ: Bob will make you do weird things. For swimming, we had to figure out something I could be attached to. My waist was attached, I was attached to something. I had a harness, but it was on something with wheels. It was bizarre. It was day one, and I had to suddenly swim, and we were trying to figure out what that would be, in this new way. So I was swimming with my upper body, being rolled around Crispin, and trying to pretend I was swimming. Same with the flying. We hooked me up with wires and flew around. I had something where I flew around [Crispin] for a bit.

Q: Now that you’ve stepped into this new world of animation, would you consider another project like this in future?
AJ: I would certainly love to do more. I wouldn't call this animation, because we were physically doing all of these things. And every single gesture is ours. Everything is acted out exactly by us--even where our eyeballs move, because this is a new thing, were exactly where we looked. They were mapped exactly. It is our performances, and we had these scenes together. So, I do think that is important to state, because it's exciting that it's not and it's different.

Q: Had you ever read the original epic poem that Beowulf was based upon?
AJ: Yes, I had read it years and years ago, and I hardly remembered it. It's one of those great stories that you know the themes of it. You take away the themes and you never forget. But, when I read the script, it wasn't fresh enough in my mind to compare it, and it wouldn't be at this moment, even.

Q: Were there stories from your youth that had a significant effect on you?
AJ: I'm sitting here trying to think of some brilliant answer, but I really don't have one. I loved Treasure Island. When it comes to film, I love Lawrence of Arabia. I loved The Traveler. I loved reading Winston Churchill's works. I love his stories of his early life and his adventures, and the history in that. So those are mine.

‘A Mighty Heart’ Keeps Beating

Q: Now that more and more people are seeing the film on DVD, what kind of reaction have you been getting?
AJ: The only reaction I was ever waiting for was Mariane's [Pearl]. Then of course Ruth and Judea's [Pearl], and I heard that she'd seen the movie and it was about a week before I'd heard from her. I got really nervous and I got the most beautiful and giving email. It was just so kind and considerate of everyone else. That's just her nature. So ever since she felt okay with it then nothing else has affected me that much. Certainly any time that anyone said they appreciated the movie I just hoped that they appreciated her. She's just extraordinary and I got really lucky to be able to play her. She really, really is amazing.

Q: When playing a real person do you feel a real responsibility to get it right, and is that a responsibility as an actress as opposed to playing a character that doesn't exist?
AJ: Yeah, certainly. I think the most difficult thing in this was that we had Mariane who was so supportive, but she was also never on set and was going around the world doing stories about other women and she's a great journalist. She did come in the night before I started it and she brought Adam and the kids were playing and we all share the same feeling. We all thought and looked at him and realized that one day he was going to look at this film and if we do it right we could show him how much his mommy loved his daddy and who his parents are. So it was a huge responsibility, but also there's no better reason to do something.

Q: Unlike Beowulf, you weren’t actually pregnant in real life when you made this, though you play pregnant in the film.
AJ: No. I was pregnant three months before shooting this, and so I had a memory.

Q: What's easier--a prosthetic pregnancy or a real one?
AJ: [Laughs] Well, one of them you can unsnap every night.

Q: How long did you spend in preparing for this role and working with Mariane before filming began?
AJ: I knew Mariane a little bit because we had met, by chance. We were both single moms doing a lot of things internationally. So she sent me a note one day and I sent her one back and it was totally unrelated to the film, and then the film later came about and I took it to Brad…She knew him and we all knew each other. It became this natural thing that seemed to happen. So it was strange that I was suddenly then meeting her for dinner and trying to watch her. I felt very bad about it and I felt very strange talking to my friend and studying her accent. So I didn't. I actually got a lot of tapes because she did a lot of interviews during the kidnapping and after and I studied those and took her sound from that. It felt invasive. Her voice changed when Danny died. Her voice changed again when she gave birth and these were just personal things that I felt I was discovering and I felt very shy about it, analyzing her. I never asked her how she reacted the moment he was lost. I still can't. I did ask her just about her past and tried to understand what gave her this strength. I learned a lot about other very traumatic things that happened to her in her past that forged who she is.

A Mighty Heart

Q: This film is truly a love story between Mariane and Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman), however tragic. Was exploring that part of the appeal for you?
AJ: I think I found that certainly what they had is that they had a common goal for the world. They had a common goal and not some grand view of changing the world in general, but whether it be raising a family in the same way or whatever, they both had this hunger to learn about other cultures and truths to tell in journalism. They would raise their child the same way, too. So it's a beautiful and very romantic love story and I certainly learned a lot about love through their stories, little things that she did for him and things that he did for her. Hopefully that's what you take away from it. You realize that love, not to be absolutely corny, but if Mariane were here she'd say it, that in the end there is a point. That's why she's such a powerful force because for all purposes she could've become a very angry and hateful person and she's not. She loves Pakistan and she loves people of all countries and loves people of all religions. That is probably the only way we can get through it all.

Q: What do you hope the audience will walk away feeling and thinking?
AJ: At its heart this film, I think, is about how to move through life. I think that's what it was for me. We are at war now and there's much going on in the world of terrorism and there's so much where we talk about a country as “evil.” We imagine an entire country full of people as just evil, and we don't have enough discussions about each others’ cultures, and we don't talk about the heroes of each country, and we don't talk about how we can have dialogue about how much we have in common and our shared goals, and how we can work together. We don't have people going out there and figuring that out as much as we have people going out there and doing other things. But that's what she does. It's saying that she's of course angry about what happened, that this is something she's not passive about – she's a very strong person. But she knows that in order to work towards a world that Adam can grow up in there's got to be resolve in some area. You have to focus past that and try to still communicate with each other. I think that's just important.

Q: Tears come to your eyes when talking about this. It's still very close to you?
AJ: Yeah, absolutely. This story affected all of us at the time it happened and it'll always affect me in a great way.

Q: You seem to have enjoyed the best of all worlds as an actress – your resume consistently alternates big, fun popcorn movies like Beowulf with more serious and thought-provoking fare like A Mighty Heart. Do you see your career going more steadily in either direction?
AJ: I've been really lucky in my career where I've gotten to do the craziest and silliest things and I've gotten to do some serious work. I'm going to do some good things in my life, but my career has never been – if I never worked again, tomorrow I'd be home with my family.

Q: How do you find equilibrium between your personal and public lives?
AJ: You just try to balance and try not to work too much, and take turns working. It's not that hard…I try not to think about my public life. I focus on my private life, and that's just the best way to live.

Q: As an actress, do you ever take a character home?
AJ: You don't think you do. I think little things sometimes. Apparently [during A Mighty Heart] I was dressing funny. I was trying to add color [laughs]. I know that I was very attached to my family during that period. There was a lot more affection than normal. I was just very happy to know where everybody was and it's obvious. I just fell in love with my family all over again.

Q: You’ve been busy since making these films, with Wanted and The Changeling. Are you taking time off soon?
AJ: I have one more month on The Changeling, and then I'm not doing anything.

Q: Will you be spending the holidays at home or abroad?
AJ: I don't know. We are talking about maybe New Orleans. Brad and I both have some work to do there. We don't know. We're leaving it open still.

Q: The work in New Orleans would be a charitable effort?
AJ: Yes, always. There are many different things. There is a lot of traveling I want to do, and continue to work with this education program we started for refugees, and many things. And I travel when I can.

Now I understand that leggings have been all the rage this spring and tights were a strong draw on this Fall’s runway, however if I see another tight or legging covered person I’m going to scream… AAAWWWW… The tights trend was fun in a quirky, 80s, Kate Moss brit way, but the entire thing has been overdone like Paris Hilton’s extensions. Tights appear effortless and that’s part of my huge problem. Anyone can throw on a pair of tights and tank and poof, you’re stylish… WRONG! Tights show no effort and you alway end up looking like either a streetwalker or a hobo. Leggings and tights have been banished to my fashion graveyard… Goodnight!

I’m always on the fence about La Lohan. There are times when she looks amazingly beautiful and then times when I wonder if the “rumors” are true and she got dressed in a haze. This, unfortunately is one of those times. You all know how I feel about stockings under shorts (see Kate Beckinsale post), so she loses points there, but then she woos with with her loosely strewn scarf (I’m a sucker for a scarf) and the aviator glasses. Our favorite globe-trotting, poverty battling couple, stepped out on the town last night at the Hollywood premiere of “God Grew Tired Of Us”. The Jolie-Pitts stepped out looking smolderingly sexy, but with the ‘pure at heart’ do-gooders aura about them. Both wore a variation on navy and gray, Angelina in a pair of long trousers and silk blouse with open-toe black sandals. While Brad, always rustic and manly, wore his usual slacks and tee combo, though I’m loving the fabulous navy blue wool coat, gray scarf and zip-up boots. They continue to wow me with their charitable spirit and it doesn’t hurt that they look flawless. One thing is for sure, we’re not growing tired of these two any time soon. Kudos, Brangelina.

Sienna Miller was out in LA this week, lunching, probably doing so major press for her new biopic flick about 60’s It Girl Edie Sedgwick, “Factory Girl“. It’s the role that many say Miller was destined to play, and there have been many comparisons drawn between the incomparable Edie and Sienna: both It girls and wildly famous. Hopefully, Sienna can go beyond trite comparisons and bring the sensational, yet tragic Edie to life.

Witness: O.J., Cronies in "Military Invasion Fashion"

O.J. Simpson, a packed courtroom, people hollering his name outside the courthouse, a media throng… What's familiar about this scenario?

The first day of what will likely be a two-day preliminary hearing to determine whether O.J. Simpson and two others should stand trial on robbery-related charges kicked off Thursday in Las Vegas, with one of his alleged victims testifying that the ex-footballer and his armed cronies burst into his hotel room in "military invasion fashion."

Sports memorabilia collector Bruce Fromong, the first of eight witnesses scheduled to appear, said in court that he didn't know who he was supposed to meet with on Sept. 13, the day Simpson allegedly stole $80,000 worth of items from him and fellow collector Alfred Beardsley, only that an "anonymous buyer" was interested in his stuff.

"When he came in, he kind of stopped, he looked at me and I looked at him," recalled Fromong, who said that he's known the Naked Gun actor for at least a decade.

"There was a lot of hollering and yelling and O.J. was yelling, particularly at Alfred Beardsley, saying, 'I thought you were a good guy, I thought you were my friend. You stole from me,'" Fromong testified.

Simpson and two others, Clarence Stewart Jr. and Charles Erlich, are facing 11 felony counts of armed robbery, burglary, kidnapping, assault, conspiracy and coercion stemming from their run-in with Fromong and Beardsley in Room 1203 at the Palace Station Hotel and Casino.

A run-in that, according to Simpson, who could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted, did not involve guns.

Three of Simpson's accused accomplices, however, have either agreed to plea, or have already pleaded to, lesser charges and plan to testify that the former star running back told them to bring weapons.

At least two of the dealmakers, Mike McClinton and Walter Alexander, were carrying guns, according to police. Charles Cashmore is the other man who has agreed to turn states evidence. A search of McClinton's home turned up two guns that fit the weapon descriptions given to police.

Fromong told the packed courtroom that one of those men pointed a gun at his face and said, "I'll shoot your ass."

After about five or six minutes, Simpson told his five-man crew to grab the memorabilia. Which they did, hauling the goods, including the Heisman Trophy winner's signed All-American ball, away in Palace Station pillowcases.

"O.J. was screaming, 'This is all my s--t. This all belongs to me,'" Fromong said. "You stole this from me. Let's pack up. Let's get out of here."

Prosecutors also played some of the tape made by memorabilia dealer Thomas Riccio, who testified Thursday that he contacted Simpson to set up the meeting with Fromong and Beardsley. Riccio, who reserved the hotel room in his name, was granted immunity after turning his recordings over to authorities.

Simpson has maintained that he only planned to confront Beardsley and Fromong, who suffered a heart attack and was hospitalized for a short time following the meeting, because he had been told that they had items that had been stolen from him by his former licensing agent, Richard "Mike" Gilbert.

"You have proof that these items were legitimately obtained by Mr. Gilbert," Simpson attorney Gabriel Grasso challenged Fromong during his cross-examination.

"I have no idea how Gilbert obtained these items," Fromong replied, referring to the cache that also included a number of non-football treasures, such as a bunch of baseballs autographed by Pete Rose and a framed photograph of Simpson with late FBI director J. Edgar Hoover.

Like Simpson, he was contacted by Riccio, Fromong said.

(Gilbert has told the Los Angeles Times that Simpson gave him a number of things, including the suit he was wearing when he was acquitted of the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman, when Gilbert was helping him clean out his Brentwood mansion.)

Simpson could be seen shaking his head during portions of Fromong's testimony. Grasso also read back a portion of the collector's statement to police, in which he quoted Simpson as saying, "Get my s--t. Leave the other stuff alone."

The hearing is scheduled to continue Friday. Las Vegas Justice of the Peace Joseph M. Bonaventure will likely render his decision about a trial next week.

They're All Do's: Glamour's Women of the Year

New York - The 18th Annual Glamour Women of the Year Awards, a celebration of women who have changed the world, brought together an impressive array of living legends on Nov. 5, from author Toni Morrison, who won the award for lifetime achievement, to 11-year-old actress Abigail Breslin ("Little Miss Sunshine"), Glamour's first-ever "Girl of the Year."

Also for the first time, Glamour named the recipients for their newly established "Women of the Year Fund" initiative, Empowering Hands, a group of Ugandan women, former child soldiers, who joined forces to help rehabilitate those forced to fight in the rebel militia, who kidnapped tens of thousands of children in Uganda over the course of two decades.

Mariah Carey, with the African Children's Choir, opened the ceremony with a rousing, emotional number and was met with huge cheers from the audience, particularly from the sections where several school groups were seated, special guests of Glamour.

Later, one of the evening's honoree's, Dr. Victoria Hale, whose work developing drugs for a nonprofit she founded, Institute for One World Health has helped saved hundreds of thousands of lives each year, addressed these young attendees specifically, urging them to go far with their educations, and not just in the classrooms.

"Go and live somewhere far, far away," Dr. Hale said. "That, is an education. It will change your life and it will change the world."

Comedian Stephen Colbert of "The Colbert Report," after joking that he was at the ceremony ("My writer's are on strike, and I needed something to do tonight"), lightened the mood with his entertaining introduction of Sen. Nancy Pelosi, honored for being the first female Speaker of the House.

Radcliffe is 'nervous' about Broadway

Daniel Radcliffe has admitted that he is very nervous but excited about appearing on the Broadway stage in New York for the first time next year with play Equus.

Now Radcliffe has signed up to take the show to America in 2008, but he revealed he was worried about "screwing" it up.

Ricky Gervais reveals cancer scares

Keanu Reeves sued by paparazzo

Katona admits to smoking while pregnant

Spears was on a day out with Sean Preston, two, and one-year-old Jayden James as part of the latest court order in her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline. She is allowed to see the boys three times a week under the supervision of a court-appointed monitor.

The 25-year-old later left the store and shouted at paparazzi who were standing too close to the car.

The former couple's next hearing will take place on November 26.

Pete Doherty "in mourning" for drugs

An original production filmed in Mexico, "Como Ama Una Mujer" (How a Woman Loves) is inspired by the lyrics of Jennifer's first Spanish-language album of the same name released earlier this year. At the end of each episode, Jennifer herself will perform the theme song that inspired that episode. The five part mini-series tells the story of a woman's journey to find her true soul-mate, but with her glamorous life and professional success come heartbreak and betrayals that threaten to break her spirit.

Jennifer Lopez expressed: "We are very excited to present this project with Univision and proud to share one of our original series with the Hispanic community."

In keeping with the high-profile nature of the eagerly awaited production, "Como Ama Una Mujer" will feature some of Spanish-language television and motion pictures' biggest stars.

· Chilean motion picture actress Leonor Varela (Blade II, The Tailor of Panama) portrays the lead character of Sofia, a famous singer/actress whose rise from humble origins to superstardom happened almost overnight, and finds her private life constantly under attack by paparazzi.
· Mexican motion picture star Raul Mendez (Los Justos, Un Mundo Maravilloso, Matando Cabos, The Legend of Zorro) plays Diego, someone from Sofía's past with plans for her future.
· Playing her soccer superstar fiancé, Andres, is Cristián de la Fuente, the internationally popular Chilean novela (Soñar No Cuesta Nada) and motion picture (Driven, Vampires: Los Muertos) actor.
· Mexican novela actress Gabriela de la Garza (Ángel, Las Alas de Amor, Belinda) plays Laura, a beautiful and successful socialite fashion designer and Diego's jealous girlfriend.
· Playing Andres' publicist, Barbara, is one of Mexico's top novela actresses Rebecca Jones (Cuna de Lobos, Dos Vidas, and Huracan).
· Mexican motion picture star Rocío Verdejo (Los Justos, Corazón Marchito) plays Adriana, Sofia's envious "friend" and assistant.
· In the role of Paco, Diego's friend and confidant, is Mexican motion picture actor Martin Altomaro (Un Mundo Maravilloso, Demasiado Amor).
· Mexican novela actor Josefo Rodríguez (Sombra del Otro, Miroslava) plays Fernando, Sofia's manager, who offers her wise advice and knows her better than she knows herself.
· Colombian singer/songwriter and recording artist Karoll Marquez (La Verdad, Cotidiano) plays Sofia's brother Nicolas.
· Mexican actor Luis Fernando Padilla (Destruir Dice, Mujer, Casos de la Vida Real) plays Felipe, Andres' best friend and soccer teammate.

Kim Gordon has always represented unstudied badassness to us, so when we spotted her in three front rows — 3.1 Phillip Lim, Anna Sui, and Marc Jacobs — we were determined to ask just how she pulls it off. The answer: H&M.

On Anna Sui.
She's always made clothes that reference periods when clothes represented something meaningful to musicians. I don't really wear her clothes. I sort of feel like a lot of the stuff is too young for me, quite frankly. But I feel like lately I’ve seen things that look more like I could embrace as a woman.

On thrift-store shopping.
I will sometimes, but not anything that sort of looks vintage. Because I kind of feel like when I dress in vintage stuff that represents the seventies and sixties, I kind of did that. I’m more conservative now. I’m so boring.

On finding age-appropriate stage clothes.
It’s kind of a challenge [laughs]. There are certain requirements. I like to wear a dress because it’s against type. And it can’t be black. People think of extreme music as black leather. There are certain ideas of what you’re supposed to look like if you rock. I like the contrast between something that looks vulnerable and this hard music. I like a party dress. I’ve worn stuff from Sue Stemp recently because it’s a dress that doesn’t look like a dress. And I bought a white dress at H&M recently. It doesn’t look like anything. I don’t necessarily want to wear anything that screams a [certain] designer.

The chaotic, shutterbug-infested scene at Zac Posen's show meant that celebrities from Demi on down to Ivana Trump were unavailable for us to chat up. And so Serena Williams, sitting just outside the fray, provided the rote quotes we've come to expect from every celebrity who isn't Vincent Gallo. "I love Zac. It’s one of my favorite shows to attend," she told us, remarking that she would take the show list home and order later. The poor thing looked and sounded so exhausted we weren't sure she'd make it another ten minutes to see Zac's parade of fabulous dresses. We wondered if she was still tuckered out from her loss in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open to eventual winner Justine Henin, but it became clear that she was actually tired from getting dressed. "I take at least an hour to get ready anytime I go out, whether it's to play or go here," she said with a weary sigh. "It's always about trying to look your best. Like I said, it's hard work. Stars sparkle on and off catwalk

PARIS (Reuters) - Golden stars and large sequins sparkled from dresses at Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent as designers Karl Lagerfeld and Stefano Pilati presented youthful collections for two of France's most established fashion labels.

Staying true to a fashion house's legacy is a tricky business for designers, who have to add their own edge to a label while remaining faithful to the brand's history.

Italy's Pilati carries a lot of weight on his shoulders at Yves Saint Laurent, where he was appointed in 2004. Lagerfeld, approaching 70, is used to the task, having designed for Chanel for more than 20 years.

On Friday, the German designer brought out models in Chanel's trademark tweed jackets, but worn over long shifting dresses covered in stars or combined with tight denim skirts.

"Chanel -- to me that's just haute couture," supermodel Claudia Schiffer said at the show for spring-summer 2008 collections, adding that she still liked to wear Chanel outfits that dated back 10 or 20 years.

Schiffer and other front row guests including actress Kirsten Dunst and singers Lily Allen and Courtney Love watched as models presented sporty striped V-neck tops and light pastel-colored blouses held at the waist by a black ribbon. One girl wore a small leather wallet attached to her ankle.

"Coco Chanel was the spokeswoman of the modern woman," Lagerfeld said of the label's founder, who died in 1971. "(The brand) continues to incarnate the development of the modern woman," he said backstage. "(Now) it's up to me to lift people up into the stars."

SPARKLING STARS AT YSL

At Yves Saint Laurent, Pilati presented models in sleek oversized vests, parading them out beneath giant white balloons in Paris's glass-roofed Grand Palais exhibition hall.

French actress Catherine Deneuve said Pilati had respected Laurent's inheritance while adding a new edge to the label.

"He has done the impossible thing," she told Reuters at his show late on Thursday, in which Pilati showed high-waisted fuchsia skirts and tunic-style dresses covered with stars.

"He is bowing to the spirit of what Yves Saint Laurent did. He got into the job with a lot of modesty," she said.

The bespectacled Saint-Laurent, born in 1936, ruled the French fashion scene from the age of 21 until his retirement in 2002. This year, he was awarded the title of Great Officer in the Legion of Honor.

Pilati, born in 1965, sent out a girl in a tight knee-length skirt covered in triangular-shaped sequins in pink and turquoise. Other models presented dresses cut close to the body around the shoulders and the front but floating out in the back.

"When I think of Yves Saint Laurent, I think of dark elegance," burlesque artist Dita von Teese said at the show. "It's very special what (Pilati) has done. He's staying true to the brand but also brings new life to it."

Designer Anand Jon faces new rape charges

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - California officials unsealed new rape charges against celebrity fashion designer Anand Jon on Thursday, bringing the number of women he is accused of raping or sexually assaulting to 20.

Jon, 33, who once appeared on television show "America's Next Top Model," is accused of luring women back to Los Angeles to work as models and then attacking them. He has been charged with 59 counts of raping or sexually assaulting women between the ages of 14 and 27.

In June, the celebrity designer faced 46 counts involving 18 women. The new charges came after a September grand jury hearing that involved 23 witnesses, the Los Angeles County District Attorney said in a statement.

Jon is being held in a Los Angeles jail, and the District Attorney's office said it will ask for a bail amount of $5.1 million at an arraignment scheduled for October 25.

Defense attorney Anthony Brooklier said he believed the alleged victims had collaborated against Jon.

"We think that there was collusion," Brooklier said. "We think this is made up whole-cloth, the entire case."

Jon also is under investigation in Dallas and Houston, Texas, as well as New York and Massachusetts.

California prosecutors claim the Indian-born designer is a serial rapist, and charges against him include forcible rape, sexual battery, sexual penetration by a foreign object and sodomy by use of force, among numerous others.

Prosecutors say the attacks occurred between November 2002 and March 2007.

Jon has dressed celebrities like Paris Hilton and Janet Jackson and had planned to launch of new line of jeans.

Irina Kulikova Wins Fashion Week

All week long, we've been keeping track of which models opened and closed the big shows. Now, using our patented secret formula — a complex algorithm that awards points based on the number and importance of shows each model walked in — we can reveal who made the biggest splash this week.

1. Irina Kulikova. The Russian was in every big show this week. She racked up over twenty in total, opening Marc by Marc Jacobs, Carolina Herrera, Peter Som, and Donna Karan.

2. Agyness Deyn. Popped up at many of the most buzzworthy shows: Opened and closed punky Anna Sui, closed Oscar and Narciso, and opened Temperley too.

3. Catherine McNeil. A very balanced scorecard, with a balance of old-school glamour (Carolina Herrera), new-school beauty (Zac Posen) and rising stars (Preen and Thakoon).

4. Suvi Koponen. Opened and closed Max Azria and closed Carolina Herrera. Also strutted in Proenza Schouler, Michael Kors, Philosophy, and more.

5. Chanel Iman. Hit her stride late in the week, and ended up with the most eclectic range. Before opening and closing Custo Barcelona, she also walked in flashy Heatherette, celeb labels L.A.M.B. and JustSweet, and fashion favorites Vera and Alexander Wang.

6. Raquel Zimmermann. Brazilian veteran won opening spots at Proenza and Rodarte, and pounded the catwalk for all the big names: Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, and Carolina Herrera.

7. Toni. We don't even know her last name! But opening and closing Calvin Klein was a refreshing surprise to the fashion world.

8. Kasia Struss. Dominated the smaller shows, bookmarking TSE and Malo and opening Phi, Jill Stuart, and Philosophy. Her biggest moment: closing Vera Wang.

9. Flavia de Oliveira. Reigned at the younger brands, scoring the opening spot at Trovata and JustSweet, and closing Chaiken, Badgley Mischka, and Monique Lhuillier.

10. Serafima Vakulenko. This relative newcomer had a strong showing, opening Yigal Azrouel and Adam Lippes. Plus, she walked in Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc Jacobs and 3.1 Phillip Lim.

Tough Guys Take In "American Gangster"

Los Angeles, CA - It's certain that awards season is right around the corner, when companies like Universal Pictures put on an "industry screening" (not a premiere, mind you) complete with long red carpet, screaming photographers, and some of Hollywood's biggest stars. That's what happened Monday night at the Arclight Cinemas on Sunset Boulevard, as "American Gangster" began its optimistic trek toward Oscar.

Boasting two Academy Award-winning actors in the lead roles – Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington, who both worked the red carpet hard – as well as another, Cuba Gooding, Jr., in a key role, the film tells the real-life tale of 1970's Harlem drug kingpin Frank Lucas and the New Jersey cop who brought down his empire.

Crowe joked that Washington "kept bringing his Oscar to the set every day," to which Denzel countered, "I brought two of them! I brought them both, they play like little men, they fight."

But there's no joking about making sure their film is positioned as a contender as awards season heats up; that kind of buzz is worth millions in box-office receipts, which is why they hit the carpet hard, smiling happily along with the film's producer Brian Grazer and beautiful breakout star Lymari Nadal.

Plenty of their famous tough guy friends turned up to check out the dark, compelling flick, from Mel Gibson and Ben Foster (Crowe's memorable co-star in "3:10 to Yuma,"his other contender this year) to Jeremy Piven, John Singleton, John Schneider, and Olivier Martinez. Also on hand to be one of Tinseltown's first to see the film were Julie Delpy, Marion Ross, Destiny's Child singer Michelle Williams, Niecy Nash, and even Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.

The film, opening Nov. 2, was so popular that it took up multiple screens at the Arclight, including the cavernous Cinerama Dome, and caused its own Hollywood mini-traffic jam as the huge crowd exited all at once, since there was no after party.

Victoria Beckham collection halts Canadian production

Victoria Beckham's jean collection will see its Canadian production come to an end early next year as the high Canadian dollar and a shortage of qualified workers convinced the manufacturer to venture overseas.Production of dVb jeans, designed by Victoria Beckham as part of the David Victoria Beckham empire, is being relocated to lower-cost offshore facilities, a decision that will cost about 100 Canadian jobs.

"It was a combination of the (Canadian) dollar and staffing issues, but the dollar was the straw that broke the back," said Bob Silver, president of Western Glove Works, a closely held company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Since reaching parity with the greenback last month, for the first time since 1976, the Canadian dollar has extended its gains and was worth about US$1.02 on Monday.

"The economics were difficult when the (Canadian) dollar was at 80 (U.S.) cents, when the dollar is at par it's almost impossible."

Relocating the Beckham line of jeans to lower-cost offshore factories represents the last 5 percent of Western Glove's production in Canada, and it points to difficulties faced by other domestic manufacturers dealing with the soaring currency.

The bulk of sales at Western Glove, whose brands also include Silver and 1921, are made outside of Canada, so a lofty Canadian dollar makes the products more expensive to foreign buyers.

The Victoria Beckham line of jeans retail for anywhere between C$250 ($255) and C$300.

"We have been steadily moving our production offshore over the last 10 years," said Silver. "I had thought that we could maintain a small facility in Canada for an extended period of time but that's just not possible."
